I wish i had living space large enough to set mine up properly and leave them.

I listen to "big band" and acoustic stuff on the A7's mostly. They read the dynamics of a good recording like a microscope, and are probably some of the most engaging speakers i've listened to, they really bring the music back up to proper scale, life size.

The OP at the top of this thread has a 'dislike' tag attributed to me. I don't know how it got there but I have no issues with the post, whatever.

AB, kindly remove the tag. Thanks.
Opinion is only as valid as its verifiable supporting evidence.

The only way for me to delete the dislike I have found, is to delete the post entirely.Which in most cases is not an option..

Yep, "pics or it never happened".

My A5s (w/Hiraga x-over) have been a blessing an a curse. The blessing is I have the audio system I always wanted. The curse is that they have ended the quest. My audio hobby has pretty much come to an end.

They say "the good is the enemy of the best". I understand and appreciate the meaning. But I have come to learn that "the best" can be the enemy of contentment and satisfaction.

I am no longer chasing the next piece of gear or level of audio bliss. I'm living with it every day, at least for me.

Alan that is a good thing ! Most folks look for that all their lives and never quite find what they want until they find Altec that is !

I admit I may be just a little bit biased, but it is only a little bit !

Congrats on finding your audio nirvana...

    Dear Tom,

    Try clicking right HERE :

Well said Mr. Brown !!! - drlowmu - SET Asylu

Better yet Tom, I am setting up my FIRST A7-800 system, with the 45 amp you see pictured above. Instead of you just looking at pictures, and wondering, why not come and visit me when I am all set up?? So far, I am experimenting with 825 cabinets, loaded with 515B woofers running full range ( has audible distortion at high frequencies ) .

Everything is SO critical on ALTECS if you are " going for it all ". Give me some time, at least 90 days, and come visit me in Warrensburg, MO. Bring your favorite CDs.

My 45 amp has LOTSA drive, unbelievable drive / dynamic contrasting, into the A7s !! Notice the doubled up 12 AWG military wire on the under-photo? Thats equal to 9 AWG. I have a switch on top, where I can delete the start-up thermistor and fuse.....whooooah, you oughta' hear what THAT does, especially with my wire implementations and cap bypassing. ( I call it my "attended listening AC switch " ) EVERY Rk and Supply CAP is multiple bypassed, by my ear. Much fun to hear, even if its only the bottom driver alone, but you need to hear it, when I get it going full range, 802Ds on top, remagged, re diaphragmed, on an Emilar EH-500 horn, Joe Robert's favorite small format horn these days..

    Regards,

    Jeff Medwin
